I have been an early and longtime advocate for our Rec. Program, as a founding board member and the second Island Rec. Director. Didier has done a terrific job developing the relationships and programs our island children and families enjoy. Every year the programs are subject to cancellation because Orcas, unlike Friday Harbor, doesn't have a secure and supportive funding source. Maybe it's time for Orcas Islanders to consider how to generate sustainable funding for the Rec. Program and The Fun House, assuring our precious resources, island kids, have our continuing support.
