Orcas Issuesn New and Views (nick-named “BullWings”) has been informing the Orcas Community daily for over four years, starting with generous seed money and the support of islanders and people around the country who are interested in what happens on our island. We think the online news service we provide is a daily habit you appreciate.
After much thought, research and consultation over the last year, Orcas Issues Editor Margie Doyle has decided to keep the online news service as a private, sole-proprietor, business. We will continue to operate with the highest standards of traditional journalism, even as we create a new model of “Community Journalism” serving local communities with contributions from the public, as well as from the news service staff and regional “feeds” such as Crosscut.com, sanjuanislander.com and other regional news services.
In order to compensate our technical, graphic and editorial support and to continue to maintain the website on a daily basis, we are asking those among our readers who can, to support Orcas Issues at a higher level — of $250 annually, or to choose from one of the monthly payment options we offer through PayPal.
