Community Band prepares for annual spring concert

Thursday, June 13, 7 p.m., Orcas Center

— from Karen Key Speck —

Just like the birds in spring tweet sweet melodies, the Orcas Island Community Band is sure to leave you humming and whistling in their upcoming annual spring concert this Thursday night, June 13 at 7 p.m. at Orcas Center. Admission by donation.

This concert is one you won’t want to miss. The Band, always known for its musical variety will be performing a medley of show tunes, Mozart, Gershwin, a compilation of Herb Alpert songs, and an original composition by a graduating high school senior Tim Jenson. Jenson’s march is a rousing melody reminiscent of the great John Philip Sousa.
