Monty Python’s Spamalot Promises Laugh Out Loud Moments

Thursday – Saturday, March 16 – 18, 23-25, Orcas Center

— from Susannah Weaver for Orcas Center —

Beginning Mar. 16 Orcas Center will feature the award winning musical Monty Python’s Spamalot, on Center Stage with Doug Bechtel directing an all-island cast. Bring the whole family for a laugh out loud night of theatre. Spamalot will run for six performances, Mar. 16-18 and 23-25, 7:30 p.m. at Orcas Center.

The musical comedy adapted from the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a highly irreverent parody of the Arthurian Legend and the mythic Search for the Grail. The original 2005 Broadway production, directed by Mike Nichols, won three Tony Awards, including the Tony Award for Best Musical of the 2004-2005 season. Bechtel’s Spamalot at Orcas Center is guaranteed to delight audiences of all ages.

Orcas Center has been planning this extensive musical theater production for over a year, with a cast of 25 Orcas Islanders, directed by Doug Bechtel along with music director Jim Shaffer-Bauck, choreographer Suzie Fraser, Stage Manager Lynda Sanders, costume designer Kathy Walsh, set construction lead Dan Walker, Prop Master Thelma McTavish and dozens of volunteers making set pieces, sewing, painting, and working back stage. We hope you will join us for the reception following the Opening Night production Mar. 16. Get your tickets now at  (or call 360-376-2281. (Parental discretion advised – some adult language.)

  1. Clyde and All: don’t miss the reception after. Spam inventions made at least a dozen different ways. Hot, spicy and sassy. Many of the cast, crew, and orchestra will be there as well.
